Cadet Scheme.

Northumbria Gliding Club offers reduced membership rates and glider hire for all members under the age of 18

All cadets are expected to help out around the club by launching, pushing, pulling, washing and everything else on the airfield and in return they receive very cheap flying rates which are currently:

Yearly membership : £60.00

Aerotow Launch (2000ft) : £18.00 (£5 discount for further launches on the same day)

Winch Launch : £5.50

Glider Hire : £0.10 per minute

Many cadets have gone on to progress very well after going solo and since have flown cross countries as well as flying in competitions like the Junior Nationals.

Each year at our annual "Wings Night" a cadet is awarded the "John Allan Shield" which is for cadet achievement and the following cadets have won it in previous years:
